Director of New Business Intake The candidate will work with lawyers in all offices including internationally, in a high-charged, fast-paced work environment, with dual reporting to the firm’s General Counsel and Chief Information Officer. Manages and supervises all staff within the NBI department including conflicts lawyers. Will assume conflict lawyer responsibilities for analyzing and clearing potential conflicts of interest for new client matters and lateral lawyers. Developing, implementing, and maintaining standards of ethical conflict identification and resolution including facilitating the resolution of potential conflicts. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with established conflicts checking policies, processes, and procedures. Developing and implementing training programs for the NBI staff. Evaluating and recommending solutions to enhance conflict check process, including technology tools, outside credit information companies, on-line research databases, investigative services, etc. Working with firm Ethics Partners and Ethics counsel on conflicts analysis and resolution as needed. Working with firm management to resolve any business conflict issues identified. Act as a resource in answering questions from other firm personnel relative to the new business intake process, and policies. Must have J.D. degree and admission the DC bar (active and in good standing). Must have 6+ years’ of law firm (or other professional services firm) experience in a lawyer role, including 2+ years of conflict work at a law firm and legal, writing, or research experience related to the skills and duties of the position as described. Must have 3 years’ of experience working with and/or managing a team within a law firm (or other professional services firm). Working knowledge of the D.C. rules of professional conduct is also required.
