ProfileSystems Engineer Senior The candidate will support both the Combined Orbital Operations Logistics (COOLS) contract and/or the AEHF Development Contract supporting both Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) and Satellite space and ground sustainment teams. For global scenario development support, the candidate will provide subject matter expertise in the MPSS product to the customer organizations to develop global scenario databases and downstream products to include development of payload tables, terminal image products, trending and adhoc databases and reports to support customer development testing and live mission operations. For command and control support, will provide subject matter expertise in the MPSS product to the customer organizations to produce and troubleshoot ASMCS node communications planning, image generation, resource monitoring setup/operations and CAM distribution. For the Help Desk responsibility, will provide MPSS and Systems Administration subject matter expertise to customer test and operations support organizations on a team that provides onsite and 24/7 call-up response. For the terminal support responsibility, will provide terminal expertise to the Terminal Data Node and operational users worldwide as directed by 4SOPS/DOZP and/or SMC/MCL.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree; or no experience required with a related PhD or JD Degree. Experience in RF, Digital Communications, Electronics, and/or test equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Fireberd, oscilloscopes...etc). Must have experience with operational Milstar and AEHF payload configurations, modifying payload parameters, generating and analyzing payload tables and maintaining configuration management of in garrison and deployed payload tables in an operational environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Successful experience working directly with a military customer. Protected military satellite communications planning, operations, and/or support. Desired: Knowledge of MPSS design and operational use by one or more of operational user communities. Military cryptologic key management and use experience. Prior employment in one of the MPSS user government organizations (4SOPS, 614th ACOMS) or Protected SATCOM user organizations (STRATCOM, JFCC Space, PM/WIN-T...etc). Microsoft Windows hardware and software troubleshooting experience. Clearquest discrepancy report experience. Experience authoring technical documents such as checklists/job aids, reports, and engineering whitepapers. Configuration management experience required. Experience operating and troubleshooting CAM Distribution (CAMD) in an operational environment, to include resolving Virtual Private Network (VPN) anomalies, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Manager settings, File Configuration Flat File (FCFF) settings, XML file modifications, FTP host configuration settings, and general CAMD connectivity failures to ensure continuity of CAMD and Resource Monitoring operations. Thorough understanding of Oracle databases and proficiency with SQL commands. Experienced in training development and teaching US Government (Military and Civilian) personnel. Software test. Must work closely with team members in a dynamic and flexible environment, shifting between assignments as required to support changing customer commitments and issues. Must have knowledge of MPSS operations as they support mission operations, and understand Discrepancy Reports (DRs) to produce viable workarounds in an operationally realistic manner and be prepared to provide technical hands-on support and system familiarization to MPSS users. Must represent the LM MILSATCOM team with government customers and other contractors in a positive and effective manner. This task also encompasses support to Systems Engineering (SE) and development teams for ops SE and test support in relation to MPE and AEHF CONOPS development. Must have knowledge to include resolving Virtual Private Network (VPN) anomalies, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Manager settings, File Configuration Flat File (FCFF) settings, XML file modifications, FTP host configuration settings, and general CAMD connectivity failures ensure continuity of CAMD and Resource Monitoring operations. Must work together with the greater technical advisor team and customer base. Must have operational troubleshooting experience utilizing various test equipment on Milstar and/or AEHF terminals.
