Conflicts Attorney The candidate will assist in standardizing and centralizing our conflicts review and intake process. Will be responsible for identifying, analyzing and resolving potential conflicts of interest related to new firm business and lateral hiring. Will draft waivers and review engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines. Conduct conflict analysis on new firm business and lateral hires; summarize any potential conflict issues; partner with attorneys to clarify information and to resolve any conflicts in a timely manner. Escalate to General Counsel, New Business Committee and Professional Responsibility Committee as necessary. Coordinate with Legal Recruiting to identify all incoming lateral candidates; review work history for clarity and completeness; perform conflict checks and work with sponsoring partners and support staff to address any ethical obstacles to hiring. Consult with partners, Professional Responsibility Committee and Information Governance to create and maintain effective screening restrictions. Review engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines; communicate with responsible partners and work to reconcile any inconsistencies. Liaise with relevant stakeholders (Information Technology, Information Governance, General Counsel) to ensure firmwide compliance. Perform light legal research including review of caselaw and relevant jurisdictional issues related to conflicts clearance, lateral hiring, ethical walls and related issues.

Qualification and Experience

A Juris Doctor degree; active member in good standing of Illinois or other state bar required. Experience in using a Windows based PC required. 3+ years of experience preferred in conflict analysis and resolution in a large firm setting. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive data. Ability to learn new systems quickly and develop expertise based on emerging needs of the firm. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Database searching experience; experience with Intapp preferred. Familiarity with Capital IQ, Lexis Nexis and other research tools.
