ProfileSenior Product Underwriter - Lawyers & Agents Duties: Makes underwriting decisions within assigned authority levels, and escalates cases exceeding her / his authority. Creates and recommends local underwriting standards for approval. Ensures local standards are compliant with Group Standards. Contributes to modification of Group Underwriting standards if needed via special project. Assists Business Unit and Senior Product Manager in the development and recommendation of underwriting strategy including risk analysis, structuring, growth initiatives and capacity deployment for Insurance Agents E&O professional liability business. Provides support to Client Markets in the drafting of policy language and ensure appropriate usage policies, endorsements, pricing, reporting and underwriting tools. Ensures that the Deal Enabling team and actuaries are aware of new policy language initiatives, that those products are appropriately structured and priced and that the Legal Department has approved the products. Represents Products in discussion / committees (internal and external industry)/ decisions related to Insurance Agents E&O business with Client Markets and other functions. Represents Products in working with PDS Actuarial Services to assure the development of pricing methodologies and tools necessary to support Insurance Agents E&O business for assigned lines. Provides support for the necessary underwriting-related (quality) audits are performed. Understands and executes appropriate parts of the Operational Risk Control framework via Risk Control Self Assessments "RCSAs". Planning and Controlling/ Risk Management. Validates Client Market's plan for assigned lines. Provides input to, and assesses the feasibility of, Client Markets business plans of assigned lines and new Product initiatives. Supports the technical implementation of planning parameters into costing tools. Supports needed Products activities to achieve Cycle Management goals for assigned lines. Contributes to periodic in-depth portfolio analysis and provides ad-hoc reports on latest underwriting developments; analysis, assessment or compilation of underwriting driven reports on a qualitative and quantitative basis. Assures that feedback from reserving (RM) and Claims "CLM" is reflected in Insurance Agents E&O underwriting and pricing. Contributes to the development of SOX and ORM processes for underwriting activities in assigned lines. Identifies underwriting training needs, develops and executes technical training plans in support of Insurance Agents E&O Client Market underwriters. Ensures that underwriters' skills profiles are used as a tool to foster professional development. Product Management Provides input and support to Client Market initiatives designed to improve Swiss Res' positioning in the assigned market.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A college, Master's or Law degree is preferred. Technical Underwriter for assigned lines of business. Responsible for achieving agreed objectives. Demonstrated professional liability expertise through 10-15 years of professional liability underwriting. An emphasis on Agent's professional liability would be a plus but not required. Ability to work in a multi-cultural, remote/ virtual team environment. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment.
