Trial Attorney The candidate will bring subject matter expertise in claims defense litigation to represent clients who are customers of the company in: bodily injury (BI), property damage, no-fault/PIP, special investigations (SIU), arbitration and subrogation cases. Will acquire broad knowledge of the company and business lines as well as assert processes, procedures and best practices. Determine litigation tactics and negotiate cases for timely claims resolution, representing the insured and the company in the defense of low to moderate to exposure bodily injury, property damage, PIP and/or Subrogation lawsuits. Assess liability and damages and develop defenses to allegations for a successful resolution of cases. Review new file assignments and approve initial pleadings, propounds discovery, and develop strategy. Contact clients. Review all documentary evidence. Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations and trials including expert witnesses. Conduct depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documents. Prepare and conduct court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.). Conduct settlement/dispositive proceedings (e.g. mediations, arbitrations, etc.). Try and/or arbitrate cases. Prepare motions in limine and summary documents. Draft post-trial motions. Prepare for and participate in appeals. Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation as appropriate. Should have a J.D. degree and a license to practice law in Washington. Must have 3-7 years of related experience.
