ProfileSenior Business Development Coordinator Duties: Provides business development support to attorneys in both the Life Sciences Health Industry (LSHI) and general Litigation groups for a period of up to six months (dependent on date of hire), interacting with leadership, partners and associates of these practice groups, and other business development and marketing resources within the Litigation Department and across the firm. As a member of a growing and energetic firmwide marketing team, this professional will work with other marketing and firm personnel to support pitches and proposals, event planning, research and analysis, marketing communications, and maintenance of marketing and business development-related documents, reports and systems. Supporting business development activities for primarily LSHI across the U.S. offices along side two other LSHI business development executives, and will also assist with similar activities for other Litigation practices, including Employment and Appellate, for a brief period. Develop a general knowledge of both the Litigation group and LSHI’s services as well as an understanding of the group’s priorities. These are articulated by existing business plans available for reference. Collaborate with other firm resources to prepare routine analyses of industry competition, market trends, internal financial information, business opportunities and pitch activity. Work with Practice Group Leadership, the Director of Business Development and other Business Development personnel to further the marketing strategy and implement the strategic plans of aforementioned groups. Assist Litigation and LSHI attorneys in identifying business development opportunities with new and existing clients where possible. Develop tailored pitch and proposal material for client opportunities. Assist central proposal team with global proposals and multi-practice pitches (being led by global proposal manager) as a subject matter expert, contributing Litigation or LSHI experience and practice capabilities as needed. Work closely with various legal, business development and marketing professionals to develop related presentations or material. Work with attorneys and other business development professionals to develop standard practice related materials (standard and customizable capability statements, practice group profiles, matter lists, case studies, bios etc.). If needed, assist with directory submissions (Chambers, Legal 500, etc.) to ensure marquee practice areas and individuals are being considered appropriately. Partner with the public relations team to ensure coverage of successful matters and initiatives in key markets and significant matters are publicized internally and externally in accordance with the firm's public relations policy. Assist with the production of client alerts, blog posts and other social media content. Assist with production of internal newsletters and communications, as well as agenda preparation for internal meetings. Assist Litigation and LSHI Leadership with on boarding and integration of lateral hires into the group. Collaborate with central Events Team and Regional Marketing on events, both internal and external. Complete special projects as assigned. Work to ensure quality professional product, as well as delivery of all work within established time frames.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field required. JD Degree and/or MBA a plus. 3+ years of directly relevant experience in a marketing or business development-related position, including experience in a large law firm or professional services firm. A strong business development and marketing acumen and basic legal substantive knowledge is required. An interest in and ability to understand the legal business environment, including industry terminology a must. Must be able to demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills, strong writing ability, a positive attitude, and great work ethic. Must have demonstrated experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as willingness to learn database systems. Must be detail oriented, proactive and self-directed with ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities under tight deadlines. Sound professional judgment and a high degree of poise and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts. Demonstrated ability to establish effective firmwide working relationships with individuals at all levels. Must be able to react to difficult situations quickly, effectively and diplomatically. Exceptionally strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills are required for this role.
