ProfileLabor and Employment Counsel The candidate should be a mid-level attorney having 3-5 years of increasingly responsible defense-side employment law experience. Will travel to attend court and agency proceedings in the Hartford, Connecticut area, and occasional travel to Boston office will be required. Will be responsible for supporting legal matters relating to single-plaintiff litigation and administrative charges. Will handle matters in federal and state courts, and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as other federal, state, and local administrative agencies. Draft responsive pleadings; handle all aspects of the discovery process; and draft motions and briefs, including motions for summary judgment. Interview witnesses, draft/prepare position statements, defend clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits, represent clients in mediations and conciliations, and negotiate settlements. Should be comfortable performing mid-level employment defense work (e.g., discovery, legal writing, witness interviews) with minimal oversight and maximum efficiency, including handling appearances before the EEOC or state agencies. License and in good standing in Connecticut required. A second license in Massachusetts strongly preferred. Note: The position is designed to be flexible on location, including working from home with access to any local offices as needed.
