Litigation Specialist Duties: Reports to managing claims attorney, AVP of claims. Responsible for handling complex commercial general liability claims in suit, complex legal and coverage issues, legal research and managing claim related projects as they occur. Handle suits on third party litigated claim files, including collaborating with and managing outside counsel and complex litigated claim files as assigned. Analyze coverage issues on litigated claim files and claim files with potential for litigation. Assist with negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and settlement procedures. Attend and provide litigation advice in claim review meetings. Coordinate referral with Managing Claims Attorney/AVP of Claims or VP of Claims on other litigated claim requests to outside counsel. Conduct audits of litigated claim files. Review company policy forms. Recommend reserve and payment changes as requested by management. Provide and report claims information to Senior Management on an as needed basis. Assist Forms Committee; propose changes/revisions/amendments to company policy forms, make appropriate policy language recommendations and draft policy language for new forms. Adhere to company code of ethics. Interact with others in a professional manner.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Bachelor Degree from a 4 year college or university. J.D. Degree and/or CPCU preferred. 7+ years related litigation management experience preferred. Ability to prioritize, organize and plan work for self and others. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Superior problem-solving ability. Knowledge of claim procedures, polices, terminology, etc. Detailed knowledge of Company’s established claims processing procedures. Computer efficient with MS Office programs, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
