Legal Specialist Associate Responsibilities: Will provide insight and experience in the legal system and litigation. Will represent company by providing witness testimony in courts across the country. Provide a significant opportunity to travel while appearing at trials, hearings, depositions, and settlement conferences for company. Will be involved with daily interaction with legal counsel both inside and outside of company and will provide invaluable experience to an individual seeking to enter the legal field. Will be responsible for appearing at trials, hearings, depositions, and settlement conferences to authenticate account records and provide testimony regarding customer accounts; reviewing and analyzing account documents and legal pleadings to prepare for testimony; completing basic factual research including independently locating and gathering internal documents such as customer account documents, system notes, and information required to support collection litigation; and interaction with inside counsel, outside counsel, opposing counsel and/or customers.
Qualification and Experience
Basic Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or Military experience. A Juris Doctorate degree is preferred. An interest in pursuing a career in law, or experience in law enforcement. Experience with an inâ€house legal department or law firm. Understanding of litigation pleadings and procedures in state or federal courts. Solid written and oral communication skills with the ability to persuade others to action. Solid research skills. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines. Ability to effectively work independently, with limited direction on complex tasks. Some travel may be required.
