Assistant General Counsel Ii Responsibilities : The candidate will be responsible for managing a Litigation Team in the Torts Division, Bronx County Examination & Practice Unit, and a Litigation team in the Torts Division, Queens County Examination & Practice Unit with particular emphasis on pretrial litigation, including compliance with disclosure, case assessment, and summary judgment motions.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should have a law degree and admission to the Bar of the State of New York. Extensive knowledge of State and Federal substantive and procedural law relating to tort liability. A minimum of five years (5) years of progressively more independent litigation experience after admission to the Bar. A familiarity with procedures utilized in managing and defending personal injury suits that present substantial financial exposure. Familiarity with tort trial counsel, both defense and plaintiff, and a willingness to invest whatever time and effort required to insure that all other responsibilities are effectively met. The candidate must be able to analyze, evaluate, and conference personal injury cases. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Effectively manage professional and nonprofessional staff. Manage various providers of service, including investigators and physicians. Should have significant experience in defending cases with exposure of at least $100k.
