Legal Counsel The candidate will work for the Enterprise Security Products (ESP) group within company will provide direct legal support to the SVP of ESP and staff. Will be a key advisor to executive management in influencing the strategic direction of ESP, a core business that is rapidly growing and is approaching $1B in annual revenue. The role will have oversight over all legal issues arising throughout the product life cycle, including creation (inbound OEM, IP creation), marketing (review collateral, product documentation, event presentations), go-to-market (direct, channel, partner, and outbound OEM contracting efforts), compliance (import/export, global trade, privacy/security), end of life, and litigation (IP litigation, HR litigation). Reports directly to the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Software within company’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC). In addition to client support, will lead the development and ongoing reporting of progress for certain strategic initiatives adopted by the Software Legal team. Manages the development and implementation of legal strategies for senior management for the Enterprise Security Products division of the Software business unit. Provides specialized legal expertise in the area of cyber security and acts as a subject matter expert for other business unit attorneys on the legal team. Develops and recommends innovative process improvements to effectively address business needs that can be implemented across the Software legal team and across company in general. Identifies and resolves highly complex legal, regulatory, and business issues. Leads complex, multidimensional projects. Takes full accountability for clients’ legal needs by networking effectively to achieve resolution of matters outside of direct subject matter expertise or responsibility. Influences external industry counsels, policies, and regulatory bodies in area of cyber security.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have advanced university degree in law (e.g. J.D. or LL.B). Must meets local legal license requirements. Should have typically 10+ years commercial legal experience at a law firm or in-house. Must have Mastery of legal and relevant business knowledge. Recognized subject matter expert in cyber security and/or software is needed. Should have broad and deep knowledge of corporate policies, procedures, and practices. Must have mastery in advising senior representatives of external and internal organizations on complex and high value/risk matters. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills are needed. English language skills to business standard required.
