Managing Attorney The candidate duties and responsibilities will include: Provide management for Oakland Office including oversight of legal and advocacy work; supervision and mentoring of staff; coordination of pro bono projects as well as office systems. Provide legal counseling and representation to low-income clients in the areas of housing, family law, immigration, and/or senior law. Develop, coordinate, and engage in fee-for-services work in East Bay. Conduct community education, outreach and clinics at sites accessible to target communities. Represent the organization at community, legal, and other meetings and functions, including meetings of potential funders and donors. Provide technical assistance and training to community agencies and partners. Assist with administrative and fundraising work of the organization. Must have demonstrated commitment to social justice and to serving underserved API communities. Should have 5 year’s experience in supervising attorneys and others engaged in social justice work; 2 years experience managing a workplace setting including responsibility for HR related issues and office administration. Must hav successful history of raising attorney’s fees and in managing a fee practice. Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar. Should be Bilingual and bicultural skills relevant to the low-income API communities. Preferred experience: 5 years of litigation and/or relevant courtroom experience. Experience in working with survivors of violence against women, elder abuse, or trafficking. Experience with Abacus Law, Immigrant Pro, Essential Forms, Excel, and other legal software.
