Attorney/Head of Regulatory Department The candidate would communicate effectively with fellow employees and clients regarding regulatory matters, and help guide clients to make decisions that impact their insurance company; will be involved giving verbal and written advice; lead and manage the regulatory department (including direct reports); assists clients in regulatory applications and changes to their captive insurance company; participate in the team that handles new company applications, formation paperwork, and licensing processes for new captives; general corporate legal matters, including preparation and review of various legal documents, such as management agreements; maintain professional rapport and excellent communication with insurance regulators in 15 jurisdictions; will include travel to conferences and domicile visits; participate in industry groups and speak at captive insurance conferences; work in a cooperative fashion in a positive team environment, alongside other professionals (CPAs, attorneys, insurance professionals); other projects/duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 10+ years of insurance experience; be a lawyer with a background as insurance coverage counsel or trial attorney representing insurers; will have a friendly and outgoing personality and be adept at communicating and working with a wide variety of clients, co-workers and regulators, whose knowledge of insurance and captives varies widely; outstanding written and verbal skills are required; prior knowledge of captive insurance and alternative risk vehicles is a plus, but not required.
