Industrial Relations Counsel III Duties: The candidate will defends the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) in the most difficult court actions and proceeding, and civil multi-claimant litigated cases, in both state and federal trial and appellate courts. In the most difficult and complex cases brought by the DLSE, prepares pleadings, petitions, and briefs, and conducts litigation before the trial and appellate courts of California and the United States. These include public works, discrimination complaint, and civil multi-claimant litigated cases. Assumes responsibility for the preparation and filing of Administrative rules. May act as lead person over lower level legal staff. Analyzes and evaluates proposed legislation affecting DLSE and makes recommendations to the State Labor Commissioner. Corresponds and consults with the Attorney General's office on legal matters involving tort actions against DLSE or its agents.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must possess 6 years of pqe. And Must have membership in The California State Bar. (Applicants must have active membership in the California State Bar before they will be eligible for appointment.) (Applicants who are not members of The California State Bar but who are eligible to take the California State Bar examination or are in their final year of law school will be admitted to the examination but will not be considered eligible for appointment until they are admitted to The State Bar.)
