Trial Attorney The candidate must have 10+ years' experience (comprising 10+ jury trials) in all aspects of "first chair" trial and appellate litigation including, without limitation, managing complex cases from start to finish with minimal or no supervision, conducting fact investigations, working with expert witnesses, serving and responding to written discovery, taking and defending depositions, drafting all substantive and procedural briefs, and conducting all aspects of any trial (including matters on appeal). Must have experience conducting alternative dispute resolution proceedings and settlement negotiations, recommending settlements, and reporting updates to clients in a timely and effective manner. For larger or more complex matters, must be able to work collaboratively with other attorneys to meet the client’s objectives. Prior experience working in either a district attorney’s office or other government agency unit where a high-volume of litigation was managed is considered. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues when necessary. Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated record of successfully managing multiple client relationships, matters and deadlines autonomously with minimal or no supervision. Highly effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit that demonstrates an interest in contributing to the overall success of the practice and the firm. Solid technology proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Westlaw and other forms of online research tools. Must be active and in good standing to practice law in the state of California as well as admitted to state and federal California courts.
