Senior Counsel - Litigation The candidate will provide legal advice and assistance to management specifically focused on Complex Commercial Litigation but will cross-functionally support other groups within the Legal Department. Manage all legal aspects of litigation portfolio. Recommends solutions and courses of action to management associates to best achieve Company goals within the bounds of the law. Responsible for providing legal advice, guidance and recommendations to management on all matters of litigation or to mitigate risk of litigation. Assumes primary responsibility for negotiation and/or drafting of legal documents, including governmental or other regulatory filings and submissions and/or pleadings specific to litigation matters utilizing judgment, technical knowledge, and expertise. Advocates and protects Company interests by (a) enforcing third party obligations, (b) defending and advancing the Company’s position in the resolution of disputes, governmental or regulatory charges and/or investigations and proceedings, the legislative, rulemaking or administrative process, the response to stockholder or public advocacy and/or the negotiation of agreements or transactions, (c) researching and drafting memoranda of law, and/or (d) ensuring Company compliance with law and/or contractual obligations in assigned area(s) of practice. Conduct and guide others in legal research. Direct and advise Legal Analysts and Sr. Specialists within the department.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Degree from nationally recognized law school; good standing with the Texas State Bar. Proven successful track record of managing complex litigation matters from intake to trial; previous law firm experience required. Demonstrated experience working with multi-state, multi-location litigation matters. Superior leadership presence, with excellent communication skills both written and oral. Strong organizational and management skills.
