Staff Attorneys The candidate will work temporary at the Self-Help Resource Center. Will provide legal assistance to self-represented litigants in connection with civil cases before the District and Circuit Courts, including to, family law matters, foreclosures, landlord/tenant, expungements, and domestic violence matters. Legal services to self-represented litigants may phone and live chat assistance or as requested by the Court. Attorneys will also provide appropriate referrals and perform intake as well as assist in developing programmatic materials for use by self-represented litigants, the Self-Help Resource Center and/or Court staff. These positions are part of a Maryland Legal Aid contract with the Administrative Office of the Courts to operate the Courts’ District Court Self-Help Centers and the Annapolis Self-Help Resource Center. Will be primarily assigned to either one of those shifts, there may be times when attorneys will be required to work the other shift or at another location of the Self-Help Centers, i.e. District Courts in Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel County) and Upper Marlboro (Prince George’s County). Should be admitted to the Maryland Bar with 1+ year of civil litigation experience. Excellent organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills required. Fluency in a second language preferred.
