Housing Attorney The candidate will represent tenants facing eviction, pursue affirmative litigation to improve housing conditions and prevent the displacement of working class communities, and provide advice and education to tenants about their rights. Will represent tenants in unlawful detainer (eviction) lawsuits. Represent tenants in litigation and administrative proceedings to improve living conditions. Collaborate closely with organizers to represent tenant associations in multifamily buildings and/or neighborhoods that are experiencing gentrification pressures. Provide legal advice and counsel to tenants on housing issues. Train, mentor, and supervise pro bono attorneys and law students working on housing cases and at clinics. Participate in community outreach events and legal workshops/clinics. Assist with fundraising needs, including drafting proposals, preparing grant reports, and advocating for expanded resources to combat the housing crisis. California Bar membership is required. Commitment to serving low-income populations and communities of color is needed. Should have proficiency in verbal Spanish.
