Law Clerk I The candidate must have sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures and legal resources. Requires excellent writing skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as Lexis, Westlaw. Performs complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence. May require travel for trial support. Expected to become very familiar Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008. Prior litigation support experience valuable. Experience working with federal civil rights statutes preferred. J.D. degree also preferred. Extensive paralegal experience preferred in lieu of J.D. degree.
