Senior Attorney The candidate litigates key Club cases as lead counsel, implements national strategic litigation campaigns to support the Club’s Climate Recovery Partnership and other priority conservation objectives, and helps build the in‑house litigation component of the Club's Environmental Law Program. As a senior member of a team of legal professionals, the Senior Attorney is responsible for overseeing a variety of in‑house legal duties, including prosecution of the Club’s litigation docket; strategic planning with a range of company leaders; fundraising; media work; and general administration of the Environmental Law Program. The position involves daily contact with company volunteer activists, staff, and attorneys throughout the nation. Prosecutes key Club lawsuits, under the supervision of the legal director; prosecutes select matters as lead counsel. Implements strategic, programmatic litigation to support the Club’s Climate Recovery Partnership and other priority conservation objectives; serves as lead liaison to coordinate and supervise the litigation work of conservation campaigns. Evaluates proposed litigation to advise national volunteer and staff leadership on the scope of company participation in legal actions; advises senior management and volunteer leaders on selected, high priority proposed litigation matters. Helps administer ongoing Club litigation so that Club can properly maintain and coordinate its legal docket; helps resolve problems that arise involving individual lawsuits. Develops and plans programmatic litigation to support the Club’s Climate Recovery Partnership and other priority conservation objectives Analyzes legal cases and trends for Club management and membership. Serves as legal resource for Club membership; helps chapters and groups with their regional, state and local legal programs and objectives. Helps fundraise for Environmental Law Program; cultivates individual donor relationships. Develops training, informational, educational, and fundraising materials for Environmental Law Program; conducts training of attorneys, paralegals and program assistants. Performs miscellaneous duties as directed. Should have J.D. degree and license to practice law, with 10+ years experience in the environmental law field. Must have excellent writing and analytic skills.
