Assistant Attorney The candidate responsibilities include assisting the Attorney in providing legal services to the BorÂough, elected officials, administration, Borough School DisÂtrict, and duly constituted boards and commissions, as assigned, as well as reviewing and drafting ordinances. Advises the Borough Assembly, Borough government, Borough School District, and duly constituted boards and commissions on legal issues; reviews various documents and contracts from a legal perspective. Researches, drafts, directs the preparation of, and reviews ordinances, resolutions, contracts, licenses, deeds, legal documents, briefs, and other pleadings and legal documents. Represents the Borough before courts in civil and criminal matters and before administrative bodies; interviews witÂnesses and conducts facts investigations for various cases and matters on behalf of the Borough. Confers with Borough officials and employees on various legal matters; participates in negotiations on behalf of the Borough for contracts, agreements, and disputes; attends meetings in an advisory capacity. Performs related work as required. Must have completed Graduation from an accredited law school. Some practical experience such as internships or clerkships desired. Should have license to practice law in the State of Alaska.
