Lead Counsel The candidate plays a management and supervisory role within the organization’s program structure for investigating, litigating and monitoring civil rights legal reform campaigns under the overall leadership of the Litigation Director and Executive Director. Carries ultimate responsibility for case management, strategic thinking and professional development for attorneys on the teams they lead. Expected to reflect and promote the high value the organization places on staff growth and development, mentoring, collaboration, consultation and transparency. Assist in the identification and development of funding sources for the work and is expected to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both in litigation jurisdictions and in the advocacy spaces worked nationally.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 15+ years of litigation experience with significant experience in complex federal court litigation, including trial experience (although exceptional candidates slightly outside that range may be considered). Significant experience in and comfort with supervising, mentoring and developing legal staff essential. Knowledge of children’s issues or social services systems is also a plus.
