ProfileSenior Counsel, Accident & Health Division Duties: Coordinates and directs the legal affairs of Accident & Health Division (“A&H”). Provides legal counsel and guidance on the ordinary and special activities of the A&H. Ensures maximum protection of A&H legal rights, utilizing broad familiarity with most legal disciplines. Ensures coordination and communication with the Legal Department that results in the appropriate attorneys’ or subject matter experts’ involvement in the appropriate matters. Participates in the A&H executive management policy deliberations and decisions. Responsibilities: Responsible for counseling and advising the Deputy General Counsel, Arch Insurance Group and the executive team of A&H on all legal matters and business considerations for the A&H group. Provides strategic direction and guidance in all regulatory matters, which affect A&H’s business activities. Provides legal counsel, business advice, review legal aspects of and review, draft and negotiate documents in connection with insurance and insurance related products pertaining to the accident, health and disability products of the A&H unit. Work in partnership with the company’s operational areas, including, underwriting, reinsurance, marketing, claims, finance, tax, technology and human resources. Interacts positively and professionally with all levels of management, including senior management, agents, brokers, customers, and outside agencies. Operates as a results-oriented executive with a track record of gaining management credibility and influencing business results. Operates as a business partner with the business team, not just a legal adviser, by working together with the business team to successfully achieve the business goals and objectives. Demonstrate a high degree of independent judgment. Must be willing to take unpopular positions.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A Law Degree and be in good standing in the Bar in at least one of the 50 states and 3-7 years' experience in the A&H Product type of business. Strong insurance industry knowledge would be required.
