Lead Senior Counsel - CPR The candidate will serves as the lawyer for the Center’s Policy Implementation Committee (PIC). Will provide comprehensive legal advice, research, and analysis of the firm’s policies on these subjects to: the (PIC); the Conference of Chief Justices; state and federal judiciaries and regulatory authorities; and state and local Bar associations; and state, federal, and international government agencies and organizations. Maintains the substance and currency of the Center’s one-of-a-kind policy implementation charts and the Center’s Professional Responsibility Law Speakers Bureau. Other responsibilities include maintaining updated contacts with state supreme courts, lawyer regulation organizations, judges, legal experts in ethics and professional regulation, state and local bar association presidents and executive directors, client protection administrators, and other organizations and individuals in the field of professional responsibility law. As a result serves as a strong public ambassador for the Center and the firm. Also serves as counsel for the Center for Professional Responsibility/Section Officers Conference Committee on Professional Responsibility, which facilitates communication and collaboration about professional responsibility initiatives among the Center and firm Sections and Divisions.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 12 years of practice in this area of law. Experience in legal policy development, advocacy, and scholarship is highly desired. Must be a well-organized, self-starter who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Past experience supervising professionals, editing on a peer basis, and public speaking experience required. Should have J.D. degree and a current active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
