Senior Legal Counsel - Consumer Litigation The candidate will provide legal advice to the company regarding a variety of matters, including managing consumer litigation and arbitration, consumer complaints, governmental and private agency complaints, and criminal demand letters. Provides analysis and counsel on legal matters and policy issues related to contract and consumer law, manage and oversee consumer litigation docket either by being the primary attorney on the case or managing outside counsel. In addition, this position will also review, draft, and approve business contracts. Counsels managers on matters related to consumer protection rights and contractual matters. Supervise paralegals on all legal matters, including BBB and Attorney General complaint process. Manage complaints from state and local consumer protection agencies. Manage real estate litigation/dispute resolution. Assist with franchise related matters including disclosures and litigation/dispute resolution. Manage miscellaneous commercial litigation/dispute resolution. Oversee criminal demand letter program and communication with authorities for prosecution of select qualified claims. Support marketing department by reviewing and editing advertising proposals for regulatory compliance. Support garnishment department. Support risk management in litigation. Support general legal department request on an as-needed basis. Work with outside counsel on an as-needed basis.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctorate Degree. Admitted to state Bar and actively licensed to practice law. Must have 7+ years of experience with a major law firm or as an in-house attorney or a combination of both. Demonstrated litigation experience with consumer law and business transaction experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office required. Strong negotiation skills essential. Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and excellent oral and written skills in the communication of business and legal issues. Highly organized and detail oriented.
