Patent Administrator/ Paralegal The candidate will support the management of a worldwide patent portfolio of more than 20,000 patents and applications. Will be involved in all aspects of US and foreign patent prosecution practice, as well as with issues specific to in-house patent portfolio management. Act as conduit between internal portfolio managers and outside counsel: frequently interface with outside counsel to ensure that counsel adheres to established prosecution processes, review counsel’s data entry into IP asset management software (ANAQUA) for accuracy and timeliness, identify issues and ensure satisfactory resolutions. Process and follow up on outside counsel invoices, wire payments and statements of account. Coordinate portfolio review meetings: prepare agenda, assemble and distribute documents, and record meeting results. Perform database queries and generate portfolio-related reports for use by portfolio managers and senior management. Effectively convert query results and reports into presentable documents, charts, tables and presentations. Coordinate formal document execution by inventors with portfolio managers and outside counsel. Coordinate document retention process.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Associate’s or Bachelor's degree. Paralegal certificate is desirable. Must have 5+ years experience, with an emphasis on working with in-house and/or outside counsel in US and foreign patent prosecution matters. Requires a high level of attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed. In addition, it is essential to have the ability to shift priorities quickly and re-prioritize tasks without compromising deadlines in a dynamic work environment. Strong MS Excel skills and significant experience with patent databases and IP asset management tools (e.g., PAIR, Register Plus, and ANAQUA) is strongly preferred. Previous experience with document management systems is desirable.
