Paralegal – litigation The candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting with the company’s responses to third party subpoenas and other discovery, routine legal inquiries, and some legal administration. Gather and prepare documents for production in response to third-party subpoenas. Review and respond to routine correspondence received by the legal department. Act as primary liaison to outside law firms for their use of the Serengeti Tracker database, including responses to routine inquiries from firms. Support Senior Litigation Paralegal and in-house counsel in the management of litigation, non-routine subpoenas, and other matters.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with paralegal certification strongly preferred. Should have 2+ years of directly related experience handling subpoena responses, including in a high quality law firm and/or in a corporate environment. Experience with Serengeti Tracker litigation database is preferred. Familiarity with litigation discovery database tools, such as Concordance, Summation, CaseLogistix, etc. strongly preferred. Experience with Exterro preferred. Experience in the residential mortgage industry preferred. 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, including experience handling subpoena responses, required. Must have demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master new software applications. Should have knowledge/familiarity of legal formalities, terms and principles. Must have demonstrated understanding and knowledge of federal and state court forms and filing procedures. Clear communication skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely are needed. Strong written and interpersonal skills for dealing directly with internal clients and outside counsel are required. Should be Proficient with MS Office.
