Business Development Assistant Duties: Provide responsive and efficient research, creative, and administrative support for all aspects of BD and marketing initiatives with a primary focus on lawyers and practice groups in Washington. Will work with Washington lawyers, the office-based Practice Group Support team, and other members of the global BD group to achieve Firm and office BD goals. Will be at ease using business/practice area language, creative, resourceful, tech savvy, adept at balancing competing demands, and skilled at building and maintaining positive working relationships. Assists in the preparation of upscale, professional targeted pitch materials for prospective client meetings and RFP responses; Assists with Chambers and other legal directories, rankings, and awards reporting processes including drafting and reviewing submissions and coordinating communication of results; Updates collateral and relevant databases with new lawyer work experience, coordinating with various Firm teams as needed; Conducts regular strategic business research using various databases and research tools to prepare industry, geographic, business sector and prospective company profiles; track legal trends and industry developments; identify cross-selling opportunities; and inform competitive intelligence projects; Researches, analyzes and synthesizes information for use in client meetings and new business pitches, as well as strategic overviews; Assists with the coordination of annual client event and various practice sponsorships; Maintains various web content including regular biography updates for partners and counsel and external website content.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 3.4 GPA (preferably in business, marketing, communications or other related field); 0- 1 year of experience providing administrative support in a professional services setting preferred; law firm experience a plus; Proficiency with e-mail and solid command of Microsoft Office; Familiarity with key BD databases and research tools (e.g., Thomson Reuters, InterAction, Bloomberg, etc. ), experience in/demonstrated knowledge of Firm practice area subject matter, and/or experience responding to RFPs or creating pitch materials a plus; Superior communication skills including solid content editing and proofing abilities and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel with tact and diplomacy; Strong interpersonal skills with a high touch, collaborative working style that facilitates building and managing effective relationships; Strong project management and organizational skills; Strong research skills and the ability to process information from a variety of sources and synthesize research into succinct reports; and Flexibility to manage position demands outside of traditional business hours and work overtime as Firm needs require.
