Paralegal Duties: Will carry out integrated legal, legislative, regulatory, and/or related factual research studies and projects on behalf of the attorneys. Support attorneys in significant litigation and/or other trial-related matters, to include assistance with trial research, preparation, and presentation; drafts pleadings and discovery responses, prepares affidavits, gathers and organizes evidence and other information, and drafts position statements or briefs for such proceedings. Summarize depositions, transcripts and records. Prepare case summaries, chronologies, correspondence and memoranda. Manage document productions, prepare exhibits and coordinate demonstrative evidence for hearings and trials, cite check and finalize briefs and memoranda. Establish, organize and maintain pleading boards, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists. Devise file organization scheme and supervise file maintenance, prepare privilege logs. Prepare exhibits and schedules. Perform assigned legal research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems. Coordinate mail outs, prepare closing table and assist at closing, attend to post-closing matters such as filings, mail outs and preparation of closing binders.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor's degree; 5+ years of experience in general litigation and trial support in federal and state courts, including document production, discovery, case management, trial preparation, and cite-checking. Must be an experienced litigation paralegal, preferably with a background in environmental litigation. Ability to utilize effectively digital litigation support and electronic document production applications. Knowledge of the principles and procedures of legal research. Knowledge of legal contract, agreement and settlement procedures and documentation. Read, write and speak English at the college level. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80 percent of the work time when evaluating legal matters. Ability to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instruction effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, photocopiers, fax machines, and typewriter. Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters.
