Profile

Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal Duties: Assist in the management of their global patent and trademark portfolios and to support the attorneys and agent in the IP group. Manage and coordinate all domestic and foreign patent filing decisions with internal and external counsel, coordinate the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, help manage the patent and trademark budget, assist in the management of the invention disclosures and will be responsible for supporting the administrative needs of the IP group. Docket all patent and trademark prosecution relevant communications and deadlines. Review docket for deadlines, understand docket and deadlines and action needed on each file; inform working attorney of deadlines. Process and track all invention disclosure submittals for patent committee review and communicate the review outcome to the submitters. Assist in e-filing US and PCT patent applications, amendments, declarations, assignments, IDSs and all other corresponding documents throughout patent prosecution. Prepare, forward and monitor formal documents sent to inventors for execution. Prepare and forward documentation to foreign associates for foreign filing. Effect national phase entry of PCT applications, and prepare and file continuing applications. Correspond with foreign associates, oversee payment of foreign associates' invoices, and prepare of reporting letters to client. Monitor external legal spending in relation to patent and trademark budget, and generate reports. Coordinate patent and trademarks annuities internally and externally with patent and trademark annuity payment vendor and foreign agents. Assist internal counsel in preparing IP training materials for employees. Process payment of Issue Fees. Review files and preparation of Information Disclosure statements and accompanying documents. File domestic trademark applications and coordinate foreign filings. Administrative support for IP Legal Team, ensuring all matters are appropriately filed, drafting letters and correspondence as needed, generating reports as needed from the Team, assist in the preparation of the Monthly and Quarterly IP Steering Committee Meetings, scheduling meetings for the team and handling expense reports.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Four year Degree and/or Paralegal Training/Certificate preferred; 5+ years of relevant work experience in a professional environment which includes progressive responsibility in managing patent prosecution matters and previous Law firm experience preferred. Trademark experience is preferred. Extensive knowledge of U.S. patent rules and procedure; knowledge of PCT and/or national laws of other countries; Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. knowledge of Paris Convention and deadlines set therein preferred. High level of proficiency with technology including MS Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, U.S. Patent Office Electronic Filing System, Patent Docketing and Annuity Systems, e.g., IP Manager and other internet research tools. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to perform well under pressure, manage priorities and meet deadlines. Reliable and dependable team player; Respectful to other individuals working directly or indirectly with them. Work independently, taking initiative to move projects to conclusion.
