Part-time Legal Secretary Duties: Provides legal secretarial support to the local office and staff attorneys; produces accurate legal documents and office correspondence; utilizes computer programs to open, maintain and close cases; provides assistance to potential and actual clients; appoints cases to private bar attorneys; maintains case files and performs general office duties. Some positions require extensive transcription and formatting of legal documents utilizing electronic technology.
Qualification and Experience
Requirement: Knowledge, skill and ability to follow legal practices and procedures as well as office support/secretarial procedures and practices; editing and proofreading skills; organizational skill; and effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge and skill utilizing legal terminology, forms, and formatting. Knowledge of the criminal justice system. Ability to work well as a team member and with people of different backgrounds. Knowledge and skill using Microsoft Office or comparable computer programs is necessary. Some positions may require excellent transcription, document formatting and word processing skills. Ability to read, speak and write Spanish may be required.
