Patent Agent Duties: Work within an existing patent team in drafting and editing documents within area of responsibility (e.g. notice of missing parts, information disclosure statements, transmittal forms, electronic filings in the U.S.P.T.O. and PCT Office, instruction correspondence to foreign associates). Maintain patent databases, including daily monitoring and reporting. Manage the prosecution efforts of outside counsel. Assist with patent preparation and prosecution, including authoring original patent filings, responding to administrative notices from patent offices and adaptation of patent applications to meet foreign filing requirements. Cooperate to maintain patent annuity payments and coordinate with business personnel in making selections for renewal. Provide interface and support between R&D and IP legal group, including contribution to strategic implementation of IP. Applies developed patent knowledge to address and resolve complex business issues within guidelines. Initiate and interpret patentability searches. Collect and maintain data relating to the competitive patent landscape, including freedom-to-operate analysis. Provide guidance to other patent team members and/or support professionals within the legal department (with no direct reporting structure). Support joint development research programs. Train internal engineers on intellectual property issues. Delivers results that positively impact client/user work effectiveness and efficiency. Supporting the preparation and filing of patent applications under the direction of counsel.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Advanced technical degree related to mechanical systems or semiconductor fabrication strongly preferred.
