Profile

Litigation Paralegal Duties: Works in the Legal division. Under general direction of General Counsel. Provides legal assistance to the General Counsel and senior management within company. Acts as a primary contact between company attorneys, outside counsel, organizations and employees. Participates in coordination of litigation efforts that include investigative, statutory and case law research, document production, and management of case calendars and action items. Participates in document retention management. Coordinates, compiles, administers, prepares, and edits a variety of complex legal documents and materials to include ensuring company’s compliance with regulations. Develops drafts of documentation including agreements and corporate resolutions for review by corporate management. Participates in the coordination of documentation for closing of major transactions. Conducts research on projects and assists in resolution of complex legal issues. Provides general oversight, guidance, and training to less experienced staff and interns. Collects legal data by interviewing management and employees and researching documents and files. Observes all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company. Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification Requirements: Typically requires education/formal training equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor's degree or trade school equivalency and 7+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment. Equivalent professional experience in a law office or legal department may be substituted in lieu of education. Must have a thorough understanding of corporate law principles, theories and concepts as well as a good understanding of litigation, corporate business, intellectual property and securities regulations practices, techniques and standards. Must possess the ability to resolve complex legal issues; the ability to organize, schedule and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines and milestones; strong organizational and verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings; strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees including senior and executive management and outside counsel and attorneys; the ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information; and strong computer skills. The ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential, as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required. Some travel may be required.
