Paralegal II, Corporate Litigation The candidate provides support and assistance to the company's in-house legal group or Internal Legal department. Will be responsible for using their knowledge and skills to assist in managing the company's litigation / regulatory matters, enhance the company's processes, and help to maintain the company's ethical and compliance standards. Work to identify the overall objective associated with a given assignment, and competently identifies tasks and tactics necessary to achieve the objective. Under guidance of an attorney, assist with the overall management of projects within his or her department, improving company and department processes to increase efficiency and ensure effectiveness. Assist in legal research and factual investigations; document gathering; large document productions; assist in management of docket or contested litigation as required by the attorney. Identify process improvements to ensure company compliance with legal requirements or to increase department efficiency. Initial review, analysis of incoming pleadings, correspondence and other legal documents; drafting pleadings, settlement agreements, dismissals, discovery, legal correspondence and memoranda for attorney review as required. Interact with Midland outside counsel and Midland employees to gather information, documentation or data as required for task at hand, or act as authorized to resolve the identified matter. Manage fact-intensive or process-related projects, identifying, assigning and/or undertaking tasks required to ensure successful completion and ensure the successful completion of the same. Work on special projects as required.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a a High School Diploma. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Must have 4+ years of paralegal / secretarial experience or equivalent education and experience. Proficiency with MS Office, Prelaw and other programs required. Understanding of FDCPA / FCRA / regulatory requirements needed. Prior experience in a corporate setting desired. Ability to learn / master new technologies preferred.
