Litigation Paralegal The candidate will manage all aspects of document collection and production, including electronic and hard copy document collection, numbering, redaction, de-duplication, and indexing of documents. Will set up and maintain files that are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter. Serve as a liaison to e-discovery vendors and contract attorneys. Under the guidance of an attorney, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare factual chronologies, and track productions. Partner with operational and support functions in responding to subpoenas, demand letters, etc. Assist with preparation and review of same. Conduct or assist with internal investigations. Assist with internal litigation reporting for audit or finance requirements. Draft litigation hold notices and monitor compliance with same. Identify and coordinate expert witnesses; prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation and attorney review. Prepare for and attend depositions. Under attorney supervision, gather and prepare documents relevant to the deponent, organize exhibits, take notes and handle exhibits during the deposition, and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding. Pull relevant documents, proofread papers, organize exhibits and create document indices in the preparation of motion filing. Work with attorneys in the preparation and filing of all court documents. Create, bind and distribute both file and courtesy copies. Organize the briefs, exhibits and appendices. Handle Human Resources-related matters, including: Assist with employment agreements, general release and severance agreements, benefit plan documents, and drafting of policies. Provide HR-related counseling and advice to North American operational and support functions, including managers, related to issues such as performance management, non-compete and non-solicitation issues, conflict resolution, employee complaints, disciplinary matters, and organizational restructurings. Partner with HR Employee Relations and Business Ethics Office in responding to employee concerns. Investigate administrative charges and prepare Company’s written position statements and responses to request for information. Serve as liaison to outside counsel on certain HR-related matters. Conduct document searches and factual and legal research. Create and maintain internal case databases, run searches on internal and external document databases and systems (including PACER), cull relevant information from resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents and trade associations. Conduct research through Lexis-Nexis and other legal research databases. Conduct research and draft legal memoranda. Assist with Global Records Management. Partner with Records Management to provide guidance on requirements for document retention. Assist with Office of General Counsel internal tracking and document management of litigation and HR-related matters. Should have a Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from an accredited school with 10+ years of paralegal experience working in a law firm with outside counsel and corporate environment and with in-house counsel on litigation and human resources matters OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
