Legal Assistant I The candidate will provide legal assistant support to the assistant attorney generals that are responsible for litigating complaints alleging violations of the Arizona Civil Rights Act. Responsible for the preparation and analysis of complex legal documents, research, and litigation support. Must have knowledge and understanding of mediation techniques and resources; the ability to provide volunteer mediators with technical guidance in the techniques of mediation. Should have knowledge of program planning, organization and design. Must have knowledge of legal research methods and sources, and the ability to conduct legal research using Westlaw and library materials. Should have knowledge of rules of citation, statutes, and court rules and practices. Must have knowledge of the jurisdictions and functions of local, State and Federal courts. Must be skilled in legal research and in the communication of facts and legal theories. Should be skilled in oral and written communication, particularly as they pertain to mediator training and participation in mediation sessions.
