Senior Paralegal - Labor and Employment Responsibilities: Will support attorneys with respect to labor and employment matters. Will be primarily responsible for investigating charges from the EEOC and other state and/or federal agencies and drafting and editing responses. Will work with various stakeholders including Apollo attorneys, Human Resources, Ethics and Compliance, and business leaders to resolve agency charges under the direction of legal counsel. Investigate and prepare written responses to EEOC charges and other state and/or federal agency charges, which entails: identifying, reviewing and analyzing relevant documentation; interviewing witnesses; highlighting areas of potential legal risk; performing legal and factual research; and preparing draft “position statements” and other documents responsive to requests from the EEOC and other employment related government agencies. Review and monitor new/updated relevant labor and employment laws and regulations. Assist the company in defending litigation and arbitration matters, including discovery proceedings, hearings, and trial. Assist attorneys as needed in providing advice and counsel to company on labor and employment matters. May coordinate and be involved in other legal department related projects and activities involving internal and external parties as directed by management.

Qualification and Experience

Basic Qualification Requirements: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or completion of paralegal certification program. Must have 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, HR employee relations professional, attorney, or similar experience in a comparable capacity, preferably in the labor and employment field. Experience in human resources with an emphasis in compliance-based and employee relations matters preferred. Experience in operating in an investigative role preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of state and federal labor and employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and FLSA. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be comfortable dedicating a significant portion of the work day to writing. Ability to be resourceful in problem solving while working effectively with a broad range of individuals is extremely important in this position. Familiarity with WestLaw or Lexis is a plus. Be well-organized, detail-oriented, analytical and able to work independently under minimal supervision. Should be capable of maintaining independent judgment and advice while developing relationships with business personnel. Must be able to function well with multiple business segments. Proficiency in multitasking, setting priorities and managing expectations with respect to deliverables and deadlines. Ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Ability to keep a high degree of confidentiality on all sensitive information.
