Legal Secretary Duties: Will join the Corporate Legal Department. Will be required to provide logistical, secretarial/administrative and database support to attorneys and staff within the Legal Department. Responsibilities will include: Typing pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents. Scheduling appointments and maintaining legal diaries of deadlines and daily calendar for attorneys. Routing and handling all correspondence and telephone inquiries. This responsibility requires a thorough knowledge of specific legal operations and procedures within the legal profession as well as the Authority. Responsible for dealing with other departments within the Authority and outside agencies and courts. Responsible for maintenance of legal files. Performs e-filing function and saves evidence thereof to the appropriate electronic sub-directories.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications : High School Diploma or GED required. Some post high-school or Associates Degree preferred. 2+ years of experience as a Legal secretary. Should be very detail-oriented, have expertise with Microsoft Word (Word test will be administered), and can type a minimum of 45 wpm. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of legal practices and terminology. Proficiency in spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and grammar. Should have skills in typing and the use of reference materials. Should be highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously. Ability to coordinate work activities, prepare legal correspondence and documents, transcribe dictation, organize and maintain files and records, and communicate effectively in a business environment. Ability to work under moderate supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Deadline: 2/20/2014.
