Trademark Paralegal The candidate will maintain trademarks and assist attorneys with clearance and enforcement work. Will maintain a portfolio for select divisions and assist in answering clients' questions about that portfolio. Join an IP team that includes four lawyers and four paralegals. Conduct initial scan, order search report and digest, draft and finalize memo with attorney, report to client and discuss the results. Advise on goods and services descriptions, options for filing, prepare and file application, confer with client and update internal records. Manage due dates, handle amendments to descriptions of goods/services, file with USPTO, address foreign office issues directly with foreign counsel, prepare drafts for attorney on substantive submissions. Handle renewals, post application domestic filings of evidence, prepare draft affidavits, instructions to foreign agents to renew, review of debit notes, update of internal trademarks database. Review US official gazette and foreign watch notices, obtain investigations, draft recommendations to clients, opposition and litigation support. Advise on appropriate legal notices, trademark designations and legal lines for all uses including: merchandise, related packaging and advertising, video sleeves and corresponding advertising, trade ads, along with online uses and websites.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a college degree or equivalent experience. Must have 3-5 years of trademark paralegal experience, domestic and foreign (excludes patent experience). Experience with subscription trademark databases such as Saegis or equivalent is required. Computer proficiency including trademark databases (WebTMS is a plus) is needed. Should have experience with Internet searches for history of brand uses and infringer's activity. Interest or work experience in the media/broadcasting industry highly preferred.
