House Counsel Legal Assistant The candidate will be to assist with maintaining the legal file database for the Extra-Contractual team and assisting the coverage team with prosecuting and defending Declaratory Judgment actions and provide support for the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings and motions along with exhibits thereto for service and filing. Will assists the Coverage Team to ensure that all internal requirements with respect to reporting are met, while maintaining the highest level of legal representation of firm member companies and provides follow up with appropriate departments, under direction, to ensure compliance with agreements, requests for information from attorneys, and other related issues, interacts with claims department staff to answer related routine questions and concerns. Schedules appointments and performs other duties related to maintaining an attorney’s schedule; may schedule and coordinate meetings and conferences, including travel and lodging arrangements and opens and routes office mail as appropriate, serves as receptionist for the office, providing information to callers and visitors, and directing them as appropriate. Must have 3+ years of Legal Assistant experience in general litigation and Insurance defense litigation preferred. Familiarity with the preparation of legal documents (i.e. pleadings, briefs, motions, discovery) and various correspondences requiring knowledge of the court system and legal terminology is needed. Proficiency with basic computer skills using MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint) is required. Familiarity with e-filing is desired.
