Paralegal The candidate will gather discovery/assist with discovery responses and handle witness preparation. Will open/close files, update case activity, maintain files. Under the supervision of an attorney, review and analyze various legal documents. Provide litigation support to the Litigation Attorneys and outside counsel in mortgage litigation on substantive and recourse matters. Maintain and update internal tracking databases for all Litigation matters. Interact with the business units/vendors, in support of investigations/ litigation. Research regulations and state and federal laws applicable to the litigation. Participate in conference calls with in/outside counsel on litigation matters. Handle administrative tasks; drafting/updating procedures; training. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have a High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred Should have 3+ years as a paralegal in a law firm or in a corporate in-house legal setting. Current, working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required, Expert skills in MS Excel, including the ability to utilize the following functions: V-Lookup, H-Lookup, Concatenating formulas, Conditional formatting, and Pivot Tables preferred. Experience in mortgage originations/servicing or retail banking industry preferred. Experience with e-Discovery preferred. Must understand litigation and/or mortgage transactions/title issues.
