Litigation Paralegal (Deed Restriction Violations) Duties: Assist the DRV Attorney and other DRV Paralegals with the firm’s homeowner’s association DRV practice. Will be responsible for all litigation aspects of the deed restriction violations for homeowners associations. Work with homeowners regarding the ACC submittals and resolving DRV issues; update the appropriate account information. Status reports; prepare update/input new referrals/organize and discard closed matters, etc. Monitor/follow-ups on violation(s) with property owners. Draft correspondence to and communicate with property managers and property owners. Maintain calendars including docketing meetings, trial settings, hearings, deadlines, etc. Monitor schedules including confirming whether deadlines are met. Monitor/request/obtain court document filings. Input information into file database and case management calendar. Prepare Pleadings; Petitions; Summary Judgment/Defaults/Non-Suit, etc. Prepared Motions for Enforcement/Contempt; Schedule Show Cause Hearings. Prepare court filings, e-file various documents. Request certified instruments: deeds/restrictions. Edit, proof read, and analyze documents. Analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information. Collect and research data using electronic research systems. Draft routine correspondence, various legal reports, and other documents. Monitor payment plans, if any. Prepare payoff statements. Prepare necessary releases. Monitor lender’s foreclosure posting and confirmation of sale. Monitor/obtain Substitute Trustee’s Deed. Handle enforcement of post-judgment collection. Input billable time entries accurately, timely, and in compliance with firm and client billing guidelines. Perform general clerical duties such as prepare mailings, check requests, expense reports, and submitting invoices for processing. Prepare/forward copies of documents/correspondence to property owner(s)/Association; print photographs related to deed restriction violations; monitor/file of return mailings; forward all copies of correspondence to Association. Maintain database information. Complete special projects and other assignments.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate a plus. 2-3 years' experience in a similar position, collections experience a plus. Proficiency with e-filing. May be required to act as a Notary Public. Strong ability to multi-task; high level of time-management skills. Superior verbal and written communication skills; excellent proofreading skills. Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to learn and effectively utilize various computer applications and other forms of technology. Ability to maintain a customer/client focus and build rapport with others inside and outside the firm.
