Legal Administrative Assistant – Insurance Defense Candidate will serve as an administrative assistant. Will have access to in working with and for the House Counsel Supervising Attorney. Will report directly to the Supervising Attorney.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate should have 5+ years of office work experience, preferably of an administrative and legal nature. Some college is preferred. Paralegal training is a plus. Must be able to compose both routine and non-routine correspondence, including letters, memos and reports involving both simple and moderately complex material. Must be able to explain both simple and moderately complex material to fellow employees and others, including insureds and witnesses regarding the status of the case with important dates and times, communications with the insured regarding responses to discovery, communications with medical, engineering or other experts and others involved in the litigation process. Sound knowledge of office routines and an understanding of Company rules and procedures is needed. Ability to prepare all forms of correspondence and varied documents on a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Windows, Outlook, Lotus or Excel, and other software, including any software that assists with legal filing, legal billing, or docketing of cases for hearing, pre-trial, trial, deposition or other critical dates routinely experienced in a busy trial practice is needed. Ability to perform basic legal research, to include on the internet, Westlaw/Lexis-Nexis is essential.
