Patent Agent The candidate will support the company's chemical division, i.e., drug discovery. W ill be a critical member of the Legal department and will work directly with the Chief IP Counsel, as well as with a variety of cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment to build and maintain a strong IP portfolio. Responsibilities will include freedom to operate and landscape analyses, client counseling, patent preparation and prosecution, due diligence, opinion work, publication review, license drafting, docket maintenance and litigation support. Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Should have B.S. in Organic Chemistry or Chemistry. M.S. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Chemistry is preferred. J.D. for attorney position with 1-2 years of relevant experience in-house or at a law firm is needed. Should have 3-4 years relevant experience. Must have admission to one state Bar for attorney position, New Jersey state Bar admission is preferred. Must have an advanced degree in Organic Chemistry or Chemistry and must be familiar with chemical nomenclature and substructure patent search (e.g., SciFinder and STN). Should have 1-2 years of experience preparing and prosecuting patents. Excellent academic credentials are required, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
