Corporate Litigation Paralegal Duties: Will be responsible for assisting with the administration of the corporation’s alternative dispute resolution (“ADRâ€) program, including litigation, arbitration and mediation matters. Receive and evaluate demands for mediation and arbitration under the corporation’s contractually defined ADR policy. Will be responsible for maintaining files, copying cases, summarizing depositions and performing relevant legal research. Consult with counsel to define or develop company's position and report the results to counsel. If the dispute is settled, with the advice and at the direction of Sr. Counsel, negotiate the terms of the settlement. Initiate, coordinate and develop new procedures or polices as needed. Assist with preparation of trial exhibits and notebooks, as needed. Track and report on pending legislation as needed. Serve as liaison to internal business clients, outside counsel, and arbitrator/mediator, regarding litigation, arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences and/or legal issues. Draft correspondence, discovery responses, settlement documents, factual memoranda, oral presentation verbiage and other documents as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: A BS or BA degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Paralegal Studies or related field or equivalent professional experience; paralegal education and training preferred. 2 years of experience with a law firm or corporate legal department. Must be full understanding of ADR processes and rules. Ability to read and interpret legal pleadings and correspondence. Ability to negotiate settlements as directed by Sr. Counsel, communicate effectively and have excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of health care claims, systems, contracts, benefits, medical and claims policy, medical terminology, medical case management, and provider credentialing.
