Case Assistant - Litigation Duties: Under the general supervision of department members, case assistants work as part of a team with attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, and other staff to provide legal services for clients. Perform legal support tasks for supervising department members. Organize and index case documents, including preparation of binders and exhibits. Document review and retrieval utilizing litigation document databases. Maintain physical and electronic case files. Facilitate case file document retrieval and designation as requested by team. Coordinate with Records Department personnel. Maintain accurate personal daily time records for client billing purposes. Perform detailed document management, inventory, and assessment for purposes of document integrity and work product quality control (i.e., identify duplication, missing pages, etc.). Effectuate local court filings and courthouse tasks as instructed. Electronic court docket review, assessment and retrieval of court filings. Internet investigation and research to gather relevant project data. Utilize and coordinate staff support services as needed to support case team and to facilitate project completion (e.g., deliveries, copying, word processing. etc.).
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Four-year degree or equivalent experience and 1+ year work experience in a law firm or professional client service oriented environment. Understanding and application of computer hardware and software products is required, including MS Office and the Internet. Pursuing a paralegal career are preferred. Should be able to organize and monitor information efficiently, consistently and creatively; have strong orientation toward detail; and possess excellent grammar, proofreading and communication skills.
