Legal Assistant Duties: Organize and thoroughly track files for all important case documents, and timelines from opening to close. Reviews title searches and identifies potential title claims. Addresses title claim accordingly based on nature of claim. Determines Chain of Title and prepares Assignments when applicable. Prepares correspondence for client communication; updates and monitors client systems. Conducts legal research. Drafts important legal documents, including but not limited to – Complaints, Summons, Lis Pendens, Motion for Alternative Publication, Motion for Default Judgment, and Motion for Summary Judgment. Tracks service of defendants. Determines alternative addresses for Defendants, Orders Skip Traces and Affidavits of Due Diligence. Provides Fees and Cost quotes. Requests Payoff and Reinstatement amounts and prepares notification letters to borrowers. Sets up Court Hearings and communicates regularly with Court Clerks. Coordinates Publication of Notice of Sale, and monitors the publication. Coordinates Special Master’s Sale. Following Special Master’s sale ensures that Special Master’s Deed is recorded and Order Approving Sale is filed. Monitors file through Redemption Period. Prepares Grant Deed to Vesting party. Prepares Final Title Package for VA and FHA loans. Handles Administrative tasks, including but not limited to faxing, filing, E-filing, E-recording, and preparing Fed-Ex packages. Trains new employees and Romanian staff. Reviews and edits documents prepared by Romanian staff to ensure accuracy and add information.
