Litigation Legal Assistant II Candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys or department supervisor in the preparation of legal documents, pleadings, payoff and reinstatement letters, and other correspondence while in daily communication with firm clients, opposing counsel, local counsel and court personnel. Prepares required legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and drafts, in preparation for hearings and/or trial. Requests necessary loan and title documents from clients and orders reinstatement /payoff figures as needed. Organizes and obtains information needed for lawsuit and coordinates documents for attorneys and co- counsel to facilitate representation and litigation. Responds to requests for information from opposing counsel. Performs legal research on statutes or foreclosure information as required to address client/borrower inquiries. Responds to incoming requests from clients, borrowers, attorneys, and performs required legal research on internal computer system or client websites to prepare and issue the proper response. May process return of third party funds as directed by Foreclosure Department. Enters relevant legal information into the computer system to keep files current regarding legal activity. Conducts communications with clients, borrowers, courts, and external attorneys as necessary or as directed by a department attorney or manager. Performs all other duties as requested.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate should have two to four years college in paralegal studies, business, finance, or related fields. 5+ years' experience in civil litigation, mortgage banking, real estate and/or probate law is essential.
