West Coast Developmental Assistant/ Business Development Assistant Duties: Assist Director of Practice & Office Development (“DPOD”) and Office Development Specialist (“ODS”) in all aspects of managing West Coast strategy (“WCS”) through the provision of business development, marketing, knowledge management, lateral attorney integration, training and logistical support. Primarily support the WCS, assisting DPOD, ODS, office managing partners (“OMPs”) and other attorneys and professional staff in implementing WC strategic plan within the context of firm strategy. Provide additional support as needed to other ODMs, ODSs and Chief of Practice Development. Act as a liaison to administrative functions regarding San Francisco and Silicon Valley office initiative support needs. Contribute to the overall success of WCS. Assist DPOD and ODS with business development initiatives, including client presentations, responses to RFPs, and pitches.Maintain system to track all WC industry specific business development initiatives. Assist with WC marketing initiatives, including conference sourcing and teleconferences/webinars, and maintain industry-specific marketing materials and mailing lists for the WC. Assist with scheduling, agenda preparation and coordination of partner meetings, various WC strategy working group meetings, and internal group social events as planned in collaboration with the WC OMPs. Assist DPOD and ODS with review and preparation of WC metrics reports and analysis as well as WC budget tracking. Support DPOD and ODS in maintaining all appropriate infoNet and other internal knowledge management pages (including posting of news, articles, case law, training materials or other relevant information). Work with relevant practice group (“PG”) PDMs and specialists on WC lateral partner onboarding tasks including scheduling meetings, creating contact lists and schedules, coordinating with representatives from operations, finance, business development, professional development, legal services and CICC, and organizing the delivery of firm materials. Assist DPOD and ODS in the coordination of various legal league and ranking submissions specific to the WC, including gathering of case and deal data. Provide day-to-day assistance and coordination on internal WC management tasks, including tracking of relevant sponsorships, memberships, charitable requests, etc.Act as liaison between WC attorneys and various firm administrative groups as needed. Assist in the development of knowledge management tools to assist attorneys with meeting their strategic goals and initiatives. Work with partners’ and associates’ secretaries to keep all client and prospective client contacts up to date and classified in firm’s CRM database. Assist DPOD, ODS and other firm resources to coordinate and lead research, data collection and other aspects of developing business opportunities to further WC strategic plan and other WC initiatives. Manage input of data into firm business development tracker. Help develop and monitor system to ensure that attorneys are providing business development data on a routine basis. Assist ODS in data collection for weekly/monthly WC business development email updates/newsletter. Assist ODS and Events Team with on-site coverage of various WC events and sponsorships. Assist DPOD and ODS with regional client alerts, working with the email campaign team and relevant PGs. Coordinate OMP and PG sign-off and selection of marketing mailing lists. Review results of client alert mailings. Maintain chart tracking client alerts sent and reaction to alerts. Project management and organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: An undergraduate degree. A law firm background or equivalent business experience is desirable. Prior work experience, or internship in a corporate environment is a must. Ability to identify and solve problems, work independently and take initiative. Ability to compile, review and determine logical conclusions or recommendations based on data and information which is varied in content and format. Strong oral communication skills. Strong writing skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively use technology, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels. Ability to establish credibility with attorneys and professional staff, to bring to bear the right mix of confidence, tact and persistence in working with the firm’s lawyers and professional staff. Ability to adjust work schedule on days when evening event coverage is needed.
