Lead Paralegal, Children's Project The candidate will support for the Immigration Projects and Attorneys in preparing for and conducting legal orientations at detention centers, completing intakes following orientations, conducting pro se workshops and individuals orientations, coordinating referrals of cases to pro bono attorneys. Providing case support for cases taken on in-house as appropriate, and providing direct legal assistance to clients as an Accredited Representative. Responsible for supervising and training the other project paralegals, law student interns, pro bono attorneys, and non-legal interns, and will assist with data entry and compilation of data for the funder.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a college degree and relevant prior experience in immigration issues, and either be an Accredited Representative or be willing to become one after beginning work at ProBar. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (or equivalent experience). College degree or appropriate paralegal certification and status as a Board of Immigration Appeals Accredited Representative. Must have some supervisory experience, and client interviewing and cross-cultural communications skills. Excellent organization and interpersonal skills as well as computer fluency and experience working with a database. Strong writing skills in both English and Spanish and fluency in Spanish is required.
